Paris School District Update 1.25.23

Unfortunately, there are deteriorating conditions as a result of the winter weather this week and our community needs more time to recover. Paris Schools will not have onsite instruction Thursday, January 26, 2023. We will use AMI day 2. Check parisschools.org and Facebook for updates. Stay warm and safe.

Out of an abundance of caution, our buses are slowly delivering all the precious cargo. Please be patient while waiting for your students to return home on the bus. Thank you!

Students riding the Mt. Magazine/Corley bus will be dismissed at 1:30 today. Currently, we will be in school until the normal time today. We will continue to monitor the situation as the day goes on.

The basketball games scheduled for tonight have been PPD to Saturday at 1:00.
This also means with all of the make up games, the 7th grade Tournament has been cancelled.

Paris School District is seeking applications for professional services with the intent of training Commissioned School Security Officers (CSSO).
The deadline to submit is February 9, 2023.

The Paris Eagles will start out the week on Monday at home vs Charleston with 7th grade girls and boys followed by the JR Girls and boys basketball teams. Start time for Monday has been moved up to 4:00 pm! Come on out and support your Eagles!

WHAT IS SCHOOL CHOICE?
For families who wish to attend Paris Schools and do not live within the Paris school district, the Arkansas School Choice Act is an option. The Arkansas School Choice program enables a student in kindergarten through grade 12 to attend a school in a nonresident district. School applications are accepted every year between January and May 1.

Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-1903
A public school choice program is established to enable a student in kindergarten through grade twelve (12) to attend a school in a nonresident district, subject to the limitations under Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-1906 and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Rules Governing The Public School Choice Act of 2015.


The January School Board meeting will be moved to January 19th at 5:30 PM
