marble roller coaster

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Hart's Science classes at PMS had to use their engineering, design and problem solving skills to build their own marble roller coasters. They were challenged to build a coaster using only foam piping, masking tape and felt, designing it with one loop and one hill. The coasters had to be designed with safety in mind, using felt to create friction to keep the marbles from crashing to their death at the end. During the trial phase, the students also collected data to determine the speed of their coasters. The students all came up with some great designs and enjoyed trying various methods to get their completed successful project.
