Social Media has more recently become the gateway to new career opportunities. Paris High School offers Social Media Communications as a business course elective that teaches students the business side of current Social Media trends. Students learn to effectively promote business through various media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Snapchat and others.
With each Career and Technical Education course, there is now a required industry standard certification. Students in Mr. Jamie Varnell's Social Media Communications course recently passed the Google Analytics Certification. This certification requires students to complete a series of four tests with a minimum score of 80% on each to attain certification. This certification is not only recognized by Google, but by all trades where analytics are a factor in performance. These students are also approaching the requirements for one of the avenues recognized by the Department of Education as a completer in either Social Media or Entrepreneurship.
