Meet our Eagle family! Today, we would like to introduce Mrs. Andrea Robertson, our Middle School Counselor. Andrea graduated from Arkansas Tech University with her Bachelor’s and later completed her Masters at the University of Central Arkansas. She has been in education for 22 years. She is married with two daughters. She enjoys spending time watching sporting events, being outside, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Robertson chose Paris because “my family lives here. Growing up in Lavaca, I would spend most weekends with my grandparents and cousins in Paris and knew this is where I wanted to be. I did my student teaching at PES and knew it was a great place to raise a family. After I started my teaching job, my husband and I built our house in Paris and have raised our kids here. October 21-25th, 2019 is National School Bus Safety Week! Some 25 million students nationwide begin and end their day with a trip on a school bus. Designed for safety, with flashing lights, giant mirrors, stop-sign arms and that bright yellow color, students are 70 times more likely to get to school safely when taking a school bus, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. School buses are designed to protect students through compartmentalization – closely spaced seats and high, energy-absorbing seat backs. For bus safety tips, visit https://www.nsc.org/home-safety/tools-resources/seasonal-safety/back-to-school/bus. #wearepariseagles

Mrs. Kati Patterson, recently started what she calls Motivation of the Day in her 4th grade classroom. Everyday, she or a student suggests a motivational quote for the class to briefly talk about, sharing what they think the quote means and what they took away from the quote. "I found myself needing some motivation and thought why not share with my students because they may need someone, or something to motivate them as well. I always enjoy hearing what they think the quote means, because I sometimes get a completely different answer than what I was thinking." #wearepariseagles

Due to time constraints this afternoon at PMS, and in an effort to afford seventh and eighth grade students enough time to prepare for and present their Student Council speeches, as well as to allow ample time for students to vote, a last minute decision was made by our Student Council sponsors to move the speeches to Friday during 6th period. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused for parents attempting to attend and watch these speeches being presented. Parents are of course invited to attend Friday, September 6, if they would like. Thank you

This morning, we received information of a possible threat, written on a bathroom wall at the high school. We, immediately, went into a code yellow lockdown district-wide and began a thorough investigation and school-wide search. Through sample handwriting and video evidence, school administration were able to isolate two students believed responsible and notified their parents and the Paris Police Dept. After the students were remanded to police custody and the building was cleared, the lockdown was lifted and a normal school day was resumed. Our students' safety is our top priority.

The Little Rock Office of the FBI issued a release describing a possible threat, generic in nature, to schools in Arkansas for Thursday August 29, 2019. They have not confirmed the source or verified the threat. The Paris School District has not been made aware of any specific threat against our school or community. As a part of our security procedures, the information we have been given has been processed through research based threat assessment procedure and at this time is classified as the lowest risk possible. We will continue to practice sound security procedures on a daily basis to make sure our students and staff are protected. We will use heightened security measures due to this threat. We will also continue to communicate with local, state, and federal authorities, as needed, during the upcoming week. Your child’s safety is of the upmost importance to us. We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students and staff, not only this week, but in the weeks, months, and years to come. As always, The administrators of Paris are available to discuss any school matters with you by email or phone. Please call any building or the district office. 844-964-3243
